Being this close to nature also means that Number 5 is keenly aware of how our presence impacts nature. We are entirely solar powered. We even make and purify all of our own drinking water from the ocean with solar powered desalinization and purification systems.
Light and dark
We make our own power and therefore we always strive to conserve power. Please turn off lights when not in use.
One of the rewards of this location is its astonishing nightly star show. We constantly work to protect our dark skies.
Please do not leave lights on overnight.
Be aware of the way lights in the evening affect others' views.
Water Use
As with our power, we make our own water.
Please recognize it is a precious resource in the desert and use it responsibly.
